Biodiversity outcomes of urban greening programs

Urban greening programs have the potential to support biodiversity and connect people with nature in urban centers.

However, outcomes of grassroots projects are rarely monitored, and we have little information on how to maximize co-benefits. In collaboration with Tree Canada, this project is focused on understanding the biodiversity outcomes of urban tree planting, with an emphasis on monitoring bird populations. We aim to understand how these outcomes benefit both nature and people in urban centers with the opportunity to improve conservation policy and practice.
